Station Manager
The KCSU Station Manager is responsible of the overall picture of KCSU and the responsibilities include the following:
- Work to ensure KCSU's programming serves the widest possible segments of Colorado State University students. Programming, while intended to serve primarily the majority, should also be designed to serve other diverse groups at the University. The manager must ensure KCSU programming quality of KCSU is maintained at a consistently high level.
- Ensuring the programming quality of KCSU is maintained at a consistently high level.
- After hiring student managers, delegating an appropriate level of responsibility to the student managers.
- Preparing job descriptions and conducting job reviews; delegating authority and working to ensure staff members are aware of their responsibilities and motivated to accomplish their tasks on time and as professionally as possible.
- Developing, in concert with the Student Media general manager, an annual budget, monitoring expenditures and adjusting as needed, and submitting a signed payroll authorization form on time for employees entitled to receive pay.
- Working closely with the Student Media professional staff, who design and implement staff training programs.
- Monitoring closely the content of the station's programming to avoid violations of FCC or BSC guidelines, laws, or rules.
- Participating in the promotions of KCSU and entering available contests and competitions.
- Training new managers and preparing an annual report to the BSC prior to leaving office.
- Maintaining regular, posted office hours and ensuring members of the management staff also maintain stated office hours.
- Maintaining open communications with the BSC and attending all BSC meetings.
- Adhering to BSC approved codes of ethics and ensuring staff received copies and are aware of importance of adherence. Promptly reports violations of policies to BSC.
- Upholds and promotes the goals of KCSU and student media.
Program Director
The KCSU Program Director is responsible for the origination and implementation of the popular and distinct sound that is the KCSU broadcast identity. In concert with the air staff, production, promotions, and the news department the Program Director develops programming aimed at the KCSU target demographic that the station and our potential underwriters seek to reach. The Program Director is on call 24 hours a day, 365 days a year except on vacations. The Program Director must be technically skilled at KCSU and able to answer any and all KCSU related questions.The Program Director oversees and manages the programming department, which includes three (3) Assistant Program Directors and the entire on-air staff. The Program Director also closely works with the Promotions and Production to ensure that goals are reached and that the broadcast identity is kept intact. Authority of programming is delegated to the Assistants but at all times final say is reserved for the Program Director.
Program Assistant - Technical
The Assistant Program Director/Chief Technical Officer is the direct assistant of the KCSU Program Director and is expected to understand the position. While not on call like the Program Director, the Assistant is expected to have full working knowledge of the KCSU technical equipment and is technical help during normal business hours and their office hours.
