High school seniors interested in continuing their journalism careers in college could earn a $600 stipend by applying to work for one of Colorado State University’s Student Media – KCSU-FM radio, Colorado State Student Television, and the Rocky Mountain Collegian newspaper – in 2008 .
Student Media advisers Mario Caballero, Julia Sandidge, and Holly Wolcott are asking high school journalism teachers to nominate students who will be attending CSU in 2008-2009.
Up to 10 grants will be awarded: five in the broadcast media and five at The Rocky Mountain Collegian. Broadcast stipend recipients will work for either KCSU-FM or CTV (Campus Television). Print media recipients will work at The Rocky Mountain Collegian.
If selected, the students will attend August training sessions before beginning work at Student Media. After a semester, each student will be eligible for promotion to a paid position. (In addition to their stipends, Collegian stipend winners will be paid for all their work that appears in the newspaper.)
Adviser if you have seniors interested in the stipend program have them fill out the above application, and send a signed letter of nomination to:

KCSU (90.5 FM) is a 10,000-watt student-run radio station that features a mix of “new music” and news. Recent market surveys revealed that nearly 60 percent of the CSU student body listens to KCSU.
CTV Colorado State Campus Television produces news, entertainment, and sports 5 nights a week. It has won numerous Emmy Awards for its work.
The Rocky Mountain Collegian is the state’s largest and only daily student-run newspaper, reaching more than 30,000 readers every weekday during the Fall and Spring semesters. Its students consistently win regional and national awards for their work, and they go on to work for some of the state and nation’s best newspapers.
